The merger of two companies with different product portfolios is a typical example of the value BPM Of Technology . Suppose the two companies have different infrastructures and have no plans to merge them in the short term. However, companies decide to work together through websites, call centers, and other channels to order from the consumer. This is a great scenario for using BPM technology.

The first step is to design a process from order to liquidity: Ideally, it should include all the activities required from ordering to cash realization, which are described in the business process model. Each step should include components such as an interface to provide a list of products or to collect order information. Existing services related to applications are reused and services that are not available must be defined and implemented.

Call center and sales staff will use an ordering application that will be generated from the business model. One of the steps in this model is to enforce business rules , which seem to include the products in each order. The components of the rules are analyzed in order to correctly identify the company and factory where the order should be sent using all available data such as order size, customer-specific geography, and so on. According to the recommendations provided by the business rules, certain parts of the order are sent via message to the company that produces the products. Another set of business rules is used to identify the correct web service to obtain status information.

In this way, BPM technology allows business processes to act as a driving force to determine how to do business. It hides the complexities of the IT infrastructure in various areas and does not cause concern for those who are running a business.
